Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but with school starting up again I've been pretty busy. I've added some more photos, but haven't had a chance to post a new entry. This one is going to be abbreviated unfortunately. This is Vanessa cardui - Painted Lady, one of three very similar species: American Lady and West Coast Lady. They're a pretty common butterfly, and the genus can be quickly identified by the red stripe on the ventral forewing.

Hi I just wanted to say that your insect photography is amazing! I'm also into photography and insects so I really appreciate the beauty of your photos. It is nice to finally see someone else call a bug "cute". I took a pic of a teeny jumping spider and called it cute on my FB and now my friends are happily making fun of me :) Thanks for sharing your talents!
